Yes you heard me wright folks, casting for the avatar movie has begun! At the moment the place for Aang is available. So if your between the age of 12 and 15 and you think you’ve got what it takes to become Aang, then go to the casting website here and audition! You never know, you could be the star of the avatar film!

In the excitement leading up to the finale, I neglected to post a bit of news on the Avatar movie. The movie, to be entitled “The Last Airbender”, is set for release on July 2, 2010. Mike DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the creators of Avatar, are going to serve as executive producers for the film. Unless you’ve buried yourself under a rock for the past few months, you’ve seen the Avatar finale and most likely have enjoyed discussing it on various forums and fansites. This is just a little post to answer a few questions I’ve gotten from a lot of different people, and to post a little bit of new content.

First of all, Waterbender is not closing down, nor do I forsee it closing down anytime in the near future. I’ve already paid for hosting for at least another year, and I’ll be renewing it again next summer. Next, as far as anyone knows, there WILL NOT be a book 4. The words “The End” came on the screen for a reason you know. There may be another Avatar series (no one knows!), but if there is, it will most likely follow completely new characters.

Now for the new content: The track team has updated their myspace with a few new tracks from the finale, and Kairi Li took the time to get mp3s of the music at the very end of the show and sent them to me. All of those files are available for download here.

Finally, thank you all for the help, support, and encouragement you’ve given me since I opened this website, and I hope you all keep coming

The titles for the four-part final of book 3 have been released as, today, Tvshowsondvd.com revealed the back cover for the volume 4 dvd. The titles are as follows:

318: Sozin’s Comet, Part 1: The Phoenix King
319: Sozin’s Comet, Part 2: The Old Masters
320: Sozin’s Comet, Part 3: Into the Inferno
321: Sozin’s Comet, Part 4: Avatar Aang

The titles, thankfully contain little, to no spoilers. It is just  something to keep us going as the final draws ever closer!

Well, whether you take it as happy news or sad news, the air dates for the last remaining episodes of Avatar have been announced. Starting on July 14th, as was previously announced, Nick will air one new episode each night, culminating in a 2 hour special on Saturday, July 19th. This information was relased in the July issue of Nick magazine.

Well, to get to some old news I’ve been too lazy to post for a while, the Book 3 Boxset (whose awesome cover art can be seen on the left) well hit the shelves on September 16th. Any special features it may contain are as of yet unknown, but a full write up can be viewed here, along with a picture of the disks inside. An interesting thing to note is that there are 5 disks, indicating that one will be comprised of special features.

In other news, I got an e-mail from the folks at Nickelodeon Magazine earlier today, and they want the fandom to know that the magazine will now be available online here. Apparently, they’re going to start posting new comics every week. So go to the website, wait for it to load, click on the picture of Aang toward the top right corner of all the pictures, and you can view all of the comics available to date on the right sidebar.

As many of you know, the book 3 volume 3 DVD was released today! Please make sure to buy a copy to support avatar! Mike and Brian have done loads of work on the show, so we can at least repay them by just buying a DVD to support avatar. The DVD has 4 un-aired episodes (for those who do not live in Canada) and bonus features such as commentary. I will assure you I will be buying the DVD, even though I live in the UK.

Newsarama has posted a review of the next Avatar DVD, due to be released on May 6th. Although a good portion of the review is dedicated to Day of Black Sun, there is also quite a bit about The Western Air Temple, The Firebending Masters, and both parts of The Boiling Rock, episodes that have yet to be aired in the U.S. Obviously, that means major spoilers. The banner on Nick’s official Avatar site that read “New episodes of Avatar return July 14th!” was removed recently. Whether this is because the information was released prematurely, or whether Nick changed the air date is unclear. More details (hopefully) coming soon…
